Q5

An atrium fit-out designed, built and installed by Raskl.

The main feature is a cloud of paper lanterns with individually addressable 3-colour LED lamps. This required a custom-built 300-channel DMX controller which we designed and manufactured in-house, along with custom-made aluminium heat sinks on each lamp. Working with our structural engineers we devised an aluminium support frame to transfer the load on the installation from the building's roof beams, through the suspended ceiling and into the space. The installation of the steel raft is at a height of 15m.

The resulting design allows us to design animated patterns which can flow across the 'cloud' in a variety of ways.

On the ground floor, we installed huge 4m diameter rugs to zone 3 seating areas which include felt lounge chairs and a modern coffee table design with a deliberately 'zen' theme to complement the lanterns. There is a Valchromat wall panel installation along the rear to conceal 3 60" plasma screens.

We also designed and implemented a way-finding system throughout the building which is colour-coded with the interior decoration.
