Bierrex

Another unique establishment from Gusto UK, the people behind Don Vito’s, Paradiso, Intermezzo, Secco, Alvino’s, Pasqualinos, 9Bar Coffee & dAt bAr.

We used a combination of Siberian larch and black Valchromat to create the main bar, tapered table bases, slatted curved benches (which also feature a CNC routed crown design in gold framed by oyster-coloured HPL), wooden shutters, dining table tops, poseur ledges, menu storage and signs.

We also used the moisture-resistant properties of Valchromat for both interior and exterior signs. Inside we created light boxes with vinyl graphics and outside we created a fabulous 3D stepped BIERREX sign.

This mix of materials is perfectly complemented by Carrera marble work surfaces. We also kitted out the Poison Cabinet basement bar with black Valchromat furniture throughout with subtle larch detailing - the flip of what's happening upstairs. We even fashioned mock cleavers for door handles in polished aluminium.

The focal point of the establishment (which also smokes its meat on-site) is the 'Altar of Beer' 30 taps protruding from a central column.

The selection of craft beers is constantly changing so the altar uses a numbering system which we produced in Krion - a material composed of 1/3 aluminium trihydrate and 2/3 natural resin. The result is a marble-like texture which we can carve to create a ghostly lighting effect.

We worked in conjunction with Dirty Hands Co, on the graphic design and signage elements.
