NICD Entrance

With Chemplas for The NICD in Newcastle

We worked with facade specialists Chemplas to design and deliver this Avonite entrance feature at The Catalyst - The UK’s National Innovation Centre for Data.

Overall using Avonite for this particular design made life as easy as possible and allowed us to work around all the technical challenges such as mechanical design and incorporating lighting channels.

The panels are connected to our bespoke steel framework with threaded inserts, and Avonite was the perfect material for CNC machining the required arrays of pockets and holes for these.

Where any hand-work was necessary, such as complicated mitres, machining on a table saw was a breeze and it was easy to sand to a perfect finish.‍
