Nitehawks
Another collaboration with the de Giorgis (who brought us dAtbAr, Bierrex, Poison Cabinet, Rayz, Intermezzo, Al Vinos,) and Marc Ross from Dirty Hands Co.
The theme was inspired by the Edward Hopper painting 'Nighthawks,' and has many influences from machine-age and futurism styles from that era.
We created: Ghetto-blaster wall with feature lighting and a single secret operational tape deck which overrides the sound system.
The veg-tan leather stools are stained with English breakfast tea and finished in Bison wax (Joe says after a lifetime of buying and trying stools these are the comfiest he's experienced!)
The polished aluminium poseur rail runs around the entire bar - this is wrapped in thick laser-cut veg-tan leather and baseball-stitched over a layer of neoprene for squishiness.
The pot shelf and upstand are reclaimed teak desks from the science lab of a school in Tynemouth (graffiti and chewing gum are still present on the underside). A stainless steel and opal acrylic light pyramid for displaying the numerous fine spirits.
Curved cedar ceiling in the basement inspired by clinker-built boats, with custom laser-cut copper fasteners.
Customised surgical OR table with mechanism locked-off for safety and custom-made CNC glass top with fixings to look like they were part of the original design, with hand-painted glass detailing (The table was one of a set of 3, its two siblings were bought by Marvel and feature in the latest Avengers movie!
Valchromat wall panelling throughout.
