Time Mirror

With Di Mainstone for Lakes Unite and Blackwell House in Ambleside

Commissioned for a temporary exhibition by Lakes Unite and Blackwell House on the grounds of Bakewell, and now permanently located at Grizedale Sculpture Trail, ‘Time Mirror’  was conceived by multi-dis artist Di Mainstone, and designed and produced by Raskl. The piece was designed to celebrate the Lake District becoming a UNESCO world heritage site.

The vibrant powder-coated ‘Blackwell blue’ steel kaleidoscope overlooks Lake Windermere. The structure itself has a custom-made brake lever which automatically locks into position when released, making the interaction very intuitive and satisfying, whilst the funnel rotates 360 degrees to allow the user to view the landscape from all angles. The polished mirror on the inside generates some stunning geometric patterns whilst also creating a different experience for every person.
